AMISOM welcomed the advance team from Sierra Leone and announced that the battalion-strong contingent will be deploying shortly into southern Somalia where they will operate alongside the Kenyan contingent as peacekeepers in Lower Juba. This will allow Kenya to withdraw one battalion from the sector in accordance with UN Security Council resolutions.
